For the new Frigo cold store terminal, Hublift has delivered 4 goods lifts. The four goods lifts have been built in the designed concrete shaft including lift pit. All goods lifts have a capacity of 5000kg and therefore allow the transport of heavy loads and/or forklift trucks to the floor. The total span is 8.5m and at both stops rolling doors are provided at the front of lift.

One of the goods lifts has an extra high door over three meters high. This is to ensure that higher lift trucks can also be transported to the floor. Fire doors were installed on the outside of the elevator shaft by a third party, which was taken into account in the design phase.

A huge amount of pallets are loaded and unloaded daily in the cold store. The design carefully considered the conditions under which the goods lifts must operate. Thus the large temperature differences in the use of parts and materials were also taken into account.

Application

A request was made by Frigo for 4 goods lifts and 2 passenger lifts in the new building to be built for a cold and freezer terminal in the Netherlands. The design had to take into account temperature differences and available space.

The building is used by various employees who move goods on both the ground and second floors with forklifts and electric pallet trucks. To achieve the flow of goods between the floors, four goods lifts had to be realized. User-friendliness and stability of the platform were decisive requirements. Also, reliability was very important, since the lift.

Design

Hublift builds no nonsense goods lifts, the design phase is essential to create a good understanding of the customer’s needs. Once we have a good understanding of the needs, we advise our clients on how the lift will best suit their needs and how the client can work most efficiently with the lift. These considerations are all incorporated into the design of our lifts.

The client was looking for an appropriate design. Safety, ease of use and stability were high on the customer’s priority list. Together with the contractor, a product was developed based on a comprehensive set of requirements that exactly matched the architect’s design and the customer’s needs.

Each lift is equipped with two lifting columns with 2 lifting cylinders each, in order to properly distribute the load and make the best use of the complete capacity of the lift.

Installation

Installing a lift like this one is not particularly difficult. However, this is a product with many components and electronic safeguards, and due to its relatively large size, installation takes longer than for a smaller lift. Our mechanics started by installing the lifting columns in the concrete shaft and then erecting the platform and the three-sided enclosed cabin.

In consultation with the customer, the installation work was planned in such a way as to cause as little disruption as possible. Other construction work on the building also took place during the installation of the lift. After testing the lift, we delivered the lift to the customer, who then immediately put the lift into use.
